The DM 714 is used to measure the forward voltage of power semiconductors.
The measuring device is designed for integration into an automated system, so it offers neither displays nor manual controllers. The DM 714 can be controlled via serial or Ethernet interface.
To determine the forward voltage the specimen is run with a load current pulse of up to 5,000 A maximum. The pulse width is adjustable in a range from 300 to 4,000 μs. Furthermore the rise time can be varied in a range from 100 to 1,000 μs.
The test current is allocated by an internal capacitor bank. To recharge this unit after every measurement a recovery period of 250 ms max. is required, de-pending on the quantity of the test current.
The DM 714 offers a VP-measurement to test IGBTs. Therefore the gate emitter voltage at a certain bias point is detected. The start value can be adjusted in a range from 1.0 to 30.0 V. The gradient of the voltage decrease is adjustable in a range from 1 to 100 V/ms.
The time delay of the operation point determination is adjustable in a range from 100 to 1,000 μs in 1μs-steps.
On the front of the measuring device three LEDs indicate the status of the DM 714: READY, RUNNING and INVALID. There are also three monitor outputs to display VCE, VGE and IC.
