The measurement unit DM 736 is used to measure the forward voltage of power semiconductors.
The device was designed for integration into an automated test system and has therefore neither manual control elements nor any displays. Only three LEDs indicate the operating status of the device.
The device is controlled via the serial interface RS 232.
The DM 736 can generate two different load pulse forms: a sine and a trapezoidal pulse. With the sine pulse, the load duration is fixed at 10 ms. When using the trapezoidal impulse, the load duration can be parameterized. The load current can be set up to a maximum value of 10,000 A.
Depending on the value of the test current a recovery time of max 670 ms is necessary to reload the capacitor bank. Subsequently the device is ready for a new test procedure. The internal current is measured via shunts.
A voltage-current source is available to control the DUT. Internal switching can also generate negative voltages or supply currents.
