The instrument FVM 625 is used to investigate into the behaviour of forward voltage of power semiconductors.
The forward voltage measurement is implemented by testing the specimen for a certain time (2 ms) at the adjusted current. The measurement result on the display indicates the voltage drop measured during the last millisecond of the current pulse.
The load current is adjustable in a range from 1 up to 600 A (max. output voltage of 24 V) and the load pulse duration is adjustable in a range from 300 up to 2,000 µs.
The testing current is taken from an integrated capacitor bank. Depending on the value of the testing current, a recovery time of maximum 200 ms is needed to get ready for a new measurement.
The Gate voltage is adjustable in a range from 1.0 up to 20.0 V and the gate current in a range from 1 up to 500 mA.
The measurement unit is designed for manual measuring as well as for integration into an automatic measuring system (via serial interface). Using the external operating mode the manual change of the test parameters is locked.
All actual test parameters are indicated on a display.
A separate display shows the forward voltage measuring result.
