The instrument IP 625 is used to investigate into the behaviour of isolation of electrical devices
(especially capacitive specimen), e.g. DCB-ceramic of power semiconductors.

To implement isolation testing, the specimen is connected to an AC voltage source adjustable in a range from 0 up to 5 kV**eff **and the current is measured. The test voltage is controlled electronically and remains unaffected by grid fluctuations.

During the test phase the actual current and test voltage are measured and indicated with analogue instruments.

The current measuring result is compared with the minimum and the maximum current limit.

Exceeding the maximum limit of
2 mA causes the termination of the measurement and indicates an isolation error.

If the actual current is below an adjustable limit a contact error will be indicated.

The instrument IP 625 is designed for manual measuring as well as for integration into an automatic measuring system via serial interface (RS 232).

LED signal lamps indicate the test result, and the reading is trans­mitted via serial interface.

One terminal of the DUT is connected to ground. The high voltage connection can be shielded. In this case the capacitive current of the wire does not affect the device under test circuit (guarding).
